Detailed  Itinerary

DAY 1 - Arrival & Atlantic Forest: Transfer to Trilha dos Tucanos Lodge 

Upon arrival at São Paulo airport (or from your hotel), enjoy a scenic 4-hour drive to Trilha dos Tucanos Lodge, a true sanctuary dedicated to local birdlife.

​

From the moment you arrive, the day is devoted to birdwatching and photography. Carefully designed hides and feeding stations allow you to capture unique scenes of more than 350 bird species, including rare and vividly colored toucans, tanagers, trogons, and hummingbirds, as well as raptors and kingfishers.

DAY 2 - Full Day at Trilha dos Tucanos Lodge

Spend the day immersed in the peaceful surroundings of Trilha dos Tucanos Lodge, a perfect setting to deepen your birdwatching experience. Explore the area, each corner attracting a different array of species, allowing for relaxed and rewarding observation.

Meander along the lodge’s trails through dense forest and open clearings, discovering natural behaviors and capturing unique photos. The intimate setting ensures a serene connection with the forest, far from any distractions.

DAY 3 - Final Shots & Transfer to Intervales Park

Spend the morning and early afternoon enjoying a final session of birdwatching and photography at Trilha dos Tucanos Lodge.

​

In the late afternoon, depart for a scenic 3-hour drive through the lush Atlantic Forest to the gates of Intervales Park, the next stage of your nature adventure.

​

Overnight: Pousada Pica-Pau, nestled in the heart of the park for a true immersion in nature.

DAY 4 - Intervales Park: A Pristine Atlantic Forest Jewel

Explore Intervales Park, one of the best-preserved gems of the Atlantic Forest, renowned for its incredible biodiversity.

 

Accompanied by an expert ornithologist guide, wander the trails in search of rare birds and colorful endemic species in a truly wild and untouched environment.

DAY 5 - Second Day at Intervales

Continue exploring Intervales National Park with your ornithologist guide. Discover new observation areas, different forest habitats, and unique opportunities to photograph species you won’t find anywhere else.

DAY 6 - Heading to the Pantanal

In the morning, transfer back to São Paulo and fly to Cuiabá, gateway to the Pantanal.

 

Upon arrival, drive 1.5 hours to Pousada Piuval, settle in, rest, and in the late afternoon embark on your first night safari in 4x4. Many species rarely seen during the day become active at night: tapirs, ocelots, foxes, owls, deer, and sometimes jaguars.

DAY 7 - Dawn Wildlife & Evening Safari

Wake up early for a morning safari in search of giant anteaters, often active at first light, along with other typical Pantanal wildlife.


After lunch, enjoy a guided forest walk to spot hyacinth macaws, the world’s longest parrots, plus monkeys and colorful birds.

 

The afternoon is free to relax by the pool in the heart of nature. In the early evening, head out for another safari, when the wildlife awakens again, offering a chance to see nocturnal species in their natural habitat.

DAY 8 - Transpantaneira & Jaguar Territory

Depart for Porto Jofre along the Transpantaneira, a legendary track dotted with wooden bridges and wild landscapes. Stop regularly to photograph birds, caimans, and other wildlife. Arrive late in the day at your accommodation on the Cuiabá River: either the very comfortable Santa Rosa Lodge or the immersive Float Hotel Aguapé, in the heart of the territory of the Americas’ largest feline.​

DAY 9 - Tracking jaguars: safaris in the Pantanal

Spend the day observing jaguars, the Pantanal’s majestic cats. Board small fast boats to explore the Rio Cuiabá, its tributaries, and canals where these top predators rest, hunt, or swim.


These river safaris are led by experienced and passionate guides, with deep respect for nature. You’ll also encounter a rich diversity of wildlife: giant otters, capybaras, caimans, egrets, jabirus, and a multitude of other tropical birds.

DAY 10 - Another full day in search of jaguars

Depart early for another full day in the Pantanal, seeking jaguars and exceptional wildlife.

 

The floodplains, rivers, and surrounding forests offer varied landscapes and abundant species in their natural habitat.

DAY 11 - Third Day Tracking Jaguars

Begin very early to make the most of soft light and wildlife activity. In the morning, visit Negrinho, a zone famous for its impressive concentration of waterbirds, offering spectacular scenes above the marshes.

 

The rest of the day is dedicated to safaris in search of jaguars and other emblematic animals.

DAY 12 - Final Safaris & Last Encounters

Your last chance to observe these top predators and enjoy the Pantanal’s natural wealth.

DAY 13 - Return to Cuiabá

After breakfast, drive back to Cuiabá along the Transpantaneira to conclude your stay. A convivial farewell lunch marks the end of the adventure, giving you the chance to share impressions and relive the highlights before your return flight or onward travels in Brazil.
