TIPS BEFORE YOU COME
Planning your adventure in the Pantanal? Here are our key tips to help you prepare for a smooth, safe, and unforgettable trip:
VISAS & DOCUMENTATION
-
Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
-
Some nationalities require a visa to enter Brazil. Please check the official visa portal to confirm if you need one.

-
Important: Starting April 10, 2025, travelers from Australia, Canada, and the United States will need a visa to enter Brazil. If you already have a valid visa in your passport, there’s no need to apply again.

VACCINATIONS & HEALTH
-
Yellow fever vaccination is recommended for travelers coming to the Pantanal and may be required depending on your country of origin.
-
The Pantanal is malaria-free, so antimalarial medication is not necessary unless you're also traveling to the Amazon.
-
Use insect repellent with DEET, and wear long sleeves and pants at sunrise and sunset to avoid mosquito bites (even if there is not a lot of mosquitoes in the Pantanal during the dry season)

MONEY & TIPPING
-
The local currency is the Brazilian Real (BRL).
-
Most places accept credit cards (Visa and Mastercard).

-
Tipping is not mandatory but always appreciated by local guides and lodge staff.

When preparing your bags, think light, practical, and protective. Here’s what we recommend:
