This journey is entirely devoted to one crazy experience: observing jaguars and giant otters in their natural habitat (alongside countless other fascinating species), with your camera always at hand to capture the decisive moment. With five and a half full days on the river, expert guides, skilled pilots, and experienced wildlife trackers give you all the time and space you need to find the perfect light, the right angle, and that wild moment that makes the ultimate shot.
The goal is not only to see these majestic animals, but also to witness some of their most fascinating behaviors: jaguars hunting caimans or capybaras, dramatic interactions between otters and jaguars, tender maternal care with cubs, or courtship and mating rituals. Every outing offers a rare chance to observe such unforgettable scenes.
But you don’t need to be a photographer to enjoy this adventure. This journey is designed for anyone eager to experience jaguars up close and share unique encounters with the most iconic animals of the Pantanal. Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1 - First Encounters with the Pantanal
Morning pick-up in Cuiabá and transfer to Poconé, gateway to the Pantanal, where we stop for lunch. From there, we journey along the Transpantaneira dirt road, pausing frequently to observe birds, caimans, and capybaras. After about four hours of travel, we reach our lodge on the banks of the Cuiabá River, in Porto Jofre.
Settle into your accommodation, either the comfortable Santa Rosa Lodge or the immersive Float Hotel Aguapé, both located in the very heart of jaguar territory, home to the largest feline of the Americas.

DAY 2 - Jaguars and Giant Otters
At dawn, head out on the river. Cool morning air and soft light provide perfect conditions to spot jaguars patroling, otters playing, capybaras swimming, and countless tropical birds.
After a picnic lunch or a return to the lodge for a hot meal, the afternoon is devoted to another river safari until sunset, making the most of every moment on the water.

DAY 3 - Along the River: Fascinating Behaviors and Rare Moments
This morning, we explore quieter and more remote stretches of the rivers, ideal for intimate encounters with wild jaguars in their natural environment.
Birds are abundant, offering spectacular scenes, perfect for photography or simply for the joy of watching. In the afternoon, we continue our river safaris until the golden glow of sunset, remaining attentive to every fascinating behavior the wildlife may reveal.

DAY 4 - On the Lookout: Otters, Birds, and Capybaras in Their Habitat
We return to the river early in search of jaguars and other iconic species. Expert guides help you spot animals and understand their behavior. Between hunting scenes, playful swims, and moments of rest, jaguars reveal the richness of life in the Pantanal.
Ibises, kingfishers, raptors, egrets, and herons fish throughout the day before our amazed eyes. The day is punctuated with stops to observe, photograph, and simply savor the calm and beauty of the landscape.

DAY 5 - Morning Safari and River Exploration: The Spectacle of Negrinho
Each outing on the river is a new opportunity to uncover the complexity of wild life. This morning, we cross the river to reach Negrinho, a magical place where hundreds of birds take flight at our approach, creating an unforgettable aerial spectacle. Depending on your preference, enjoy lunch at the lodge or a picnic on the river before heading back out for an afternoon safari, staying on the water until the golden light of sunset.

DAY 6 - Full Immersion
This day is entirely dedicated to river exploration and wildlife watching. From dawn to sunset, we take advantage of every change of light and rhythm of wild life. It is the perfect opportunity to follow jaguars on the move, witness the noisy play of giant otters, and admire the spectacular hunting scenes of fishing birds. Between encounters, there is time for relaxation and contemplation of the Pantanal’s endless landscapes.

DAY 7 - Last Glimpses of the River and Return to Cuiabá
One final river safari. Make the most of these last moments to observe wildlife, watch for rare behaviors, and capture your final shots. The morning is dedicated to a last immersion in this wild and preserved setting, keeping in mind the unforgettable moments spent with jaguars and the other inhabitants of the Pantanal. After this extraordinary experience, we return to the lodge for lunch before beginning the journey back to Cuiabá. Along the way, there’s still a chance to spot wildlife on the Transpantaneira before arriving in the late afternoon, with lasting memories and memory cards full of exceptional images.
